How does the valency of elements vary across a period ??????

Hey mate ,

The valency of an element depends the availability of an electrons (or electrons) in its valence shell i.e on its valence electrons. Across the period, first it increases from 0 to 4 and then starts decreasing from 4 to 1.!!
