Maya Angelou was an American poet & civil rights activist. Her best-known work, "I know why  the Caged Bird Sings", is a memoir of her life as a girl in Arkansas.

In  her autobiography "All God’s Children Need Travelling Shoes", Maya Angelou recounts her personal traumatic experience in Ghana when a car crash severely injured her son Guy Johnson

Her visit was meant to be brief and she was there to enroll her son at the University; however, Guy was seriously injured in an car accident.
