Transportation of water occurs at night due to the presence of the root pressure.

• In the normal day time, when the transpiration happens in significant amount, the water transportation is an easy thing in the plants.

• But,in the night time when the transpiration is negligible, the root pressure takes the role of sending water and sap to the leaves of the plant.

• Root pressure is a transverse osmotic pressure which sends water and sap to the leaves of the plants, mainly through the xylem.
