how does turgor pressure help in closing and opening of stomata

The stoma is "turgor operated valve". The opening and closing of stoma is regulated by the turgidity of guard cells. The stomata are open when the guard cells are turgid as water gets in due to osmotic pressure . On losing water and thus ,turgidity in guard cells, the stomata closes.
