Turgor pressure is defined as the pressure generated in the plant due to flow of water from an area where solute concentration is low to the area where there is higher concentration of solute. It is also known as hydrostatic pressure. Turgor pressure is used to maintain turgidity in plants. Healthy plants are turgid.  It is also used in processes such as development, growth and responses to stress.
