Unplanned tourism development harms the environment. The unplanned tourism of a place not only reduces the charm of a place, but also damages the environment and biodiversity of the place. The famous examples of such places in India are Shimla, Mussoorie and Darjelling. Due to large number of tourists, the place is loaded with dirt and waste at first. This spoils the soil quality. People move in cars, this causes pollution. The biodiversity is damaged.
Unplanned Tourism
Anything unplanned is bound to have repercussions. Unplanned tourism also has negative impact on the natural environment, flora, fauna, and ecology. Unplanned tourism happens when the local and central administration fail to give directions to local people. In most of the cases it is the poor implementation of environmental protection law and policies.
Most of the places of touristic importance suffer from the menace of unplanned tourism.
Recently, I went to McLeod Ganj; if on one hand I was impressed with its pristine natural beauty, on the other hand I was exceedingly distressed to find the sanitation chaos. The omnipresent stench of humane waste annoyed me to such an extent that I had to leave it within an hour. Such a chaos is not only harmful for the local flora, fauna, and people, but also for the tourists. It creates a bad image among the tourists -- both national and international.
So, all the states and central administrations must look into it and promote only planned tourism.
