electric fuse is a safety device which is used in series to limit the current in an electric circuit so that it easily melts due to overheating when excessive current passes through it .A fuse is a wire of a material with very low melting point.

1). Fuse wire is made up of a metal or an alloy of appropriate melting point (low). For example, aluminium, copper, iron, lead etc.

2). Fuse is always connected in SERIES with live wire.

3).Current capacity of fuse is slightly higher than that of the appliance.
