How does ved mehta explain the different attitudes of his mother and father towards his blindness ?

His mother was not able to accept that her son has become blind.  First, she took him astrologers, pandits and did severe rituals as advised.  Then, she took him to other form of doctors like Greek and Unani medicine.  She poured all sorts of medicines into his eyes and he got saved by his father. 

His father on the other hand was determined not to make his child a beggar because in those days, people who were blind were made to beg.  He searched far and wide for a solution until he came to know about “Dr.R. M. Halder, Principal of Dadar School of Blind.”  After the formalities, Ved Mehta was sent to that school which was 900 miles away, where Orphans and poor class children studied.  His mother did not understand the need for education for a blind child.  Since she was ignorant but having great faith in his father, she obliged.
