In the participating nations, extensive bombing campaigns may be carried out against civilians as well as military personnel, men may be conscripted and shortages and rationing may begin. Many people in the countries involved will almost certainly be killed, and areas in which one lives may suddenly belong to another nation. There is often great loss of property and economic issues as well.
