there is a connection in tissues in all plants ,whether it is big or a samll one.the one which transport water is known as xylem and the other which transports food is known as phloem.
water is absorbed by the roots an then it reach to leaves and other parts with the help of tissues known as xylem
and there is a suction pull created  due to transpiration which also helps in pulling water high

transpirational pull is an anti gravittional force created due to transpiration or water loss from the leaves which pulls the water from the roots.
