In the poem, 'The lamb' by William Blake, the poet beautifully establishes a relation between God, the lamb and himself. The poem starts with the poet acting like a child and asking the lamb about its origin. The poem starts with the line "little lamb who made thee", the poet asks the lamb about his origins, from where did he get his tender voice, how did he acquire his particular manner of feeding, his clothing of wool.

In the next stanza, the poet surprisingly answers his own question by saying that the lamb was made by someone who calls himself "a lamb", one who resembles the gentleness in both the lamb and the child.

The lamb and the child's gentleness, innocence, and peace symbolizes Jesus, the Almighty thus the poet beautifully brings out the relationship between God, himself and the lamb.
