The shape of the earth is known as Geoid. Being historical, our earth as formed millions and millions of years ago. It was actually flat in shape. As the earth rotates on its axis, due to this continuous rotation a centrifugal force developed at the centre of the earth which cause the earth to compress . As a result of this compression, due to this massive force, the earth's ends curved and finally this spherical shape.
