The major economic conditions at that time were many, like, "Inequality", "rising expenses", "war like situation", etc.  

• Inequality: Too much taxation on the poor. Example, property and salt tax.
• War: King Louis XVI at the time helped 13 American colonies to gain independence for themselves. To help others gain independence, the leader ended up costing too much for their own citizens of France. Expenses on war spending afterwards.
• There was also corruption and bankruptcy.
