Hey mate ! Check ur answer below.
Difference between Indian elections and Mexican elections:
- The main difference between elections in India and Mexico is that in Mexico, elections are held to directly elect the president.
- On the other hand, in India, elections are held to elect only Members of Parliament and State Legislatures.
- It means that India has Parliamentary Democracy, not Presidential Democracy.
- In India, The President is elected indirectly by the Members of both houses of Parliament i.e. Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha and Members of State Legislatures.
- Presidential elections in Mexico are held every six years whereas in India, Parliamentary election are held every five years.
- In Mexico, the candidate who wins the most votes elected the President, even if he or she does not have an absolute majority whereas in India, if a single party has absolute majority, it can form government and coalition (with two or more political parties) government can also be formed if any single party does not have majority.
- In Mexico, no President can serve more than a single term in office whereas in India, there is no such rule for Prime Minister.
- A Prime Minister can rule for as many years as he can if his party wins the election and he has support of his party MPs.
- Same rule is also applied in the case of State Legislatures where Chief Ministers are elected.
