The Earth behaves like a magnet because the Earth is a magnet. It is not a permanent magnet, but an electromagnet. ... Deep in the Earth, molten metal (mostly iron) flows due to heat which causes convection. (The heat appears to be generated by iron condensing at the solid core.)

Rajputana007: He didn't asked about the earth :)
Løvé: But earth is an electromagnet in answer
Løvé: I mean earth is example of electromagnet

Electomagnet: A magnet which is obtained by passing electric current through a conductor ...... When electricity is passed through the conductor .... There is a electric field produced which similarly behaves like a magnetic field ..... And hence give the conductor a property similar to that of a magnet :)
