In anaerobic respiration the respiration is carried out in the absence of oxygen. So the energy is released only in the form of ethyl alcohol. There is also incomplete or no breakdown of glucose. The energy content released is also very low as it releases only about 2 ATP(Adenosine Triphosphate). So very less organisms expect some bacteria and fungi respire anaerobically.
