Ethene upon hydrogenation in the presence of a catalyst like nickel or palladium yields ethane.

When ethyl alcohol which is also called ethanol is heated in the presence of excesss sulphuric acid at the temperature of 443 kelvin .Then it dehydrate and give ethane .
