Tropical Deciduous forest:-
1. Areas:-These forest are found in South and South-east Asia, Central America, Parts of Brazil, East Africa and Northern Australia.
2. Characteristics:-
a) The trees are of medium height and shed their leaves in the dry season.
b) The trees in these forest are commercially very valuable. Some
of the important trees are teak, sal, sandalwood, shisham, bamboo and eucalyptus.
3. Wildlife:-The wildlife in the deciduous forest includes tigers, elephants, leopards, bears, monkeys, deer, rhinoceroses and variety of snakes.
Tropical evergreen forests:-
1.Areas:- These forests are found in the Equatorial region- the
Amazon and the Orinoco river basins in South America, the Zaire river basin in Africa and in South-east Asia.
2. Characteristics :- These forests are also called rainforests or selva.
a) The trees are tall with hardwood and broad leaves that form a thick canopy at the top.
