Speed = Distance/Time

Then,

Distance=Speed×Time

Therefore,

Distance=336×30/56

=18m

Distance travelled by sound is 18m.

What is called displacement?

  • Displacement (symbolized d or s ), also called length or distance, is a one-dimensional quantity representing the separation between two defined points.
  • The standard unit of displacement in the International System of Units ( SI ) is the meter (m).
  • Displacement is usually measured or defined along a straight line.

What is  equation of motion?

  • Equation of motion, mathematical formula that describes the position, velocity, or acceleration of a body relative to a given frame of reference.

According to the question:

speed of sound in air,  v = 336 m/s

frequency of the tuning fork, v= 560 Hz

Time taken to complete 30 vibrations, i.e.,

t = 30/560

t = 3/56 s

Distance travelled by sound,

\\\\$\mathrm{s}=\mathrm{vt}=(336 \mathrm{~m} / \mathrm{s})\left(\frac{3}{56} \\\\\mathrm{~s}\right)=18 \mathrm{~m}$

Hence, Sound travels a distance of 18 metres.
