SAARC was made to bring the countries of South Asia closer together to order to nurture economic and cultural ties, with the end goal of promoting a huge block to bring millions of people out of poverty, improve trust between countries and reduce chances of war.
In those terms, SAARC has only achieved limited goals. India and Pakistan are the two largest countries in the block and which have their own problems, while the relationship with Srilanka and India is a complicated one.
