GDP contribution -

  • Primary or agriculture sector, 17%
  • Secondary or industrial sector (also includes manufacturing), 26%
  • Tertiary or services sector, 57%

In India primary, secondary and tertiary words are used for agriculture, industry and services sectors respectively. In India agriculture sector contributes 17% to the GDP and almost half (49%) people are employed in this sector. So you can see productivity is too low. Secondary or industrial sector accounts for 26% of GDP and employs 22% of the workforce. And tertiary or services sector accounts for 57% of the GDP and employs 27% of workforce.
