How far will a stone travel over level ground if it

is thrown upward at an angle of 30º with the

horizontal and with a speed of 12 ms–1? What

maximum range could be achieved with the same

initial speed?​

Range=

 \frac{ {u}^{2}  {sin2}  \alpha  }{g}

=

 \frac{ {12}^{2}  \sin(2(30)) }{10}

=

 \frac{( \frac{ \sqrt{3} }{2} )144}{10}  = 12.47m

Range is maximum when

 \sin( 2 \alpha  )  = 1

Range maximum=

 \frac{144}{10}

=14.4m
