After the big bang. Many particles were scattered in space or the place were it all happened. Assuming quarks being the smallest particles they had got a fractional charge within them. Everything in the universe wants to remain stable and so is the case for these quarks. They found other quarks with which they could combine to form a stable form. Likewise 2 up and 1 down quarks to form a proton which is also known as a hadron. An up quark with charge +1/3 and a down quark of -1/3. Hence the net charge will be +1 of a proton. Still it is not stable. Then obviously it must have combined with a particle with charge -1 to stable. Hence it must had an electron revolving arounf it to make it stable. A proton is 1837 times heavier than an electron it revolves around the nucleus hence. Like our earth does around the sun but that is totally different. Hope ypu get the idea.
