How fishes can survive in the extreme winter when ponds and lakes are frozen?

This is because only top and some inner area is frozen.These fishes occupy these unfrozen area.

JazzyAditya: Sorry I gave the wrong answer. The correct answer is that the top part is frozen and the lower part has a relatively lower temperature. As fishes are cold-blooded animals they can survive in the warmer regions below
