it appears that when the stinging cells penetrative they prey, proteins set free from the prey stimulate hydra to open its mouth and curl the tentacles towards it.the food is put into the mouth and digestion begins.these enzymes begins to break down the food into smaller particles.

Food is ingested in hydra through a process know as phagocytosis. This process comes under endocytosis. First the hydra extends its psuedopodia and then it surround the psuedopodia around its prey. Then it fuses its plasme membrane annd creates a food vaccuole. Then the lysosomes come and fuse with the vaccuole and release digestive enzymes to digest the food. Then exocytosus occurs.
