How forest save the water conservation?

@@ Forest save the water in following ways......

--->> Forest contain many trees and shrubs and small plant that hold the soil....

--->> When these such plants hold the soil it get be adjust by them and the top layer of soil tends to decline very rarely....

---->>> And this set soil in the case of rain hold up water in the term of groundwater and conserve it safely....

--->> Conservative ground water act as pure water after coming back up to surface....

Forests play a pivotal role in ecology. To add to list(see other answers):
- prevents evaporation 
- reduce seepage loss
- builds up atmospheric boundary layer(this alone improves chances of convection rains substantially)
- resists run-down and stabilises water table.
- improves rain fall by reducing temperature of atmosphere seasonally etc.
