  • FOSSILS are dead remains of plant and animals that are preserved by natural processes from geological past in different strata of earth. Fossils give us realistic pictures regarding structures and can be used to establish link with the present day life forms. It has been possible to construct  a table showing the geological period and approximately time of origin of different groups of organism from such evidences. Fossil also indicate that evolution has taken place from simple to complex in gradual way of increasing order.

Fossils Tell us the process of evolution because fossils are formed by the dead remains of plants and animals. The layer of soil keeps on increasing upwards and the fossils foamed on that layer are submerged under the another new layer which was foamed. So this way the old fossils are submerged deep in the soil and this way the newer fossils are found above that layer.
