the stability of atoms depends on whether or not their outer most shell is filled with electrons.if the outer shell is filled the atom is stable. Atoms with unfilled outer shell are unstable, and will usually from chemical bonds with other atoms to achieve stability

the fully filled atom are more stable because it helps in exchange of electron easier.

on the other side the half filled electron is also more stable than other.

EXAMPLE - N 1S²,2S²2P³ in nitrogen

in neon the electronic configuration is 1s²,2s²,2p power 6.

here half filled electron and full filled electron shows that they have most stable then other
