(i)h2+edible oil=edible oil.h2+h2so4

(ii)edible oil+h2=h2.edible oil+hco3

Edible vegetable oils can be 'hardened' by reacting them withhydrogen, a reaction called hydrogenation. During hydrogenation,vegetable oils are reacted with hydrogen gas at about 60ºC. A nickel catalyst is used to speed up the reaction. The double bonds are converted to single bonds in the reaction.

Oil can get converted to ghee
