During the 14th century the printing press was invented by William Caxton.
It gave a new impetus to the entire worldview of printing, and new books gave rise to new reading publics and even the libraries got a new momentum when it came to an evaluation of books and manuscripts.
New plays, stories, anthologies and biographies all came into existence after that.
