Mt Everest (and all the other peaks) being located in Nepal territory make Nepal a popular tourist destination. However, if we look at the status of tourism industry in our country, it is in embryonic stage. Our international airport is a big joke. Imagine yourself as a mountaineering enthusiast visiting Nepal for the first time with an aim of climbing the Everest. The first impression you will have of our country will be probably a bad one as soon as you land at. Badly managed traffic, dust, lack of online payment systems, pollution, dust, everything is just the opposite of what you can expect in a country that boasts itself of being a ‘tourism destination.’
Moreover, Mt. Everest itself can’t be glorified until and unless we learn to capitalize its presence in a more systematic and civilized manner.
