how has power been divided between the central and state government in India??

The central government has the power of- external security and relations, and communications
The state government has the power of -
Internal security, management of land, agricultural system and basic education

The Constitution has given Central govt. and state govt. their own different jurisdiction fields.

The Constitution has stated the fields and topics on which Central govt has power under Union List. It contains around 99 topics. Example: Defence

The State List contains the topics on which State govt. has power. It contains around 66 topics. Example ; Police, Irrigation etc.
