Earth ships were pioneered by Michael Reynolds. They are earth shelters that are made up of upcycled and natural materials. They are known as sustainable living structures.

Earthships are self sustainable because they can address six areas that are needed to live away from cities i.e Food production, temperature regulation, electricity, water, housing and sewage treatment.

They are self dependent as they produce their own electricity and food, utilize natural water. More research is being conducted to make earthships with zero emission. Most earth ships are V shaped as it allows them to capture rainwater and regulate high temprature that is generated due to slighly undergroound locations of earthships. Power is generated with both sun and wind.

The water is collected form both snow and rain. The water from shower, sink is also recycled to flush toilets and water plants. The black water from toilets is stored in septic tanks where they are separated from solid waste through anaerobic respiration , this water is used for non edible plants and the solid waste is used for producing biogas.

Since the earth ships are self dependent so people can live at remote locations .
