How has the location of the Indian landmass between east and west helped in the development of trade and commerce?

the Indian landmasses has a central location between east and west Asia. India is a southward extension of the Asian continent. the trans Indian ocean routs which connect the countries of Europe in west to the countries of east Asia provides a strategic central location to India. the deccan peninsula protrudes into the Indian ocean.
