How have industrialization and urbanisation aggravated water scarcity India ? Explain .

Industrialisation and urbanisation have led to an increase in water scarcity because:

1. Industries need water to produce steam which runs turbines and thus produces electricity. A lot of water is used up in this process.

2. Industries need water to cool down the machines. A lot of freshwater gets wasted in it.

3. The industrial wastes are dumped into freshwater sources, which in turn polluted the existing freshwater sources too.
