it was considered that Himalayas stood as a natural barrier to protect India against foreign invasion.But the passes in the northwest mountains such as Khyber,Bolan, Kurram,Gomal,provides easy route to India to central Asia. it had facilitated trade as well as cultural contact. In 327 BC Alexander crosses Hindukush mountain and reached India

They have helped travellers to spread the information about their religions, cultures.The spreading of Ramayana, Decimal system, Gita, Panchatantra and Buddhism has been possible due to this.They have India in trading things.
