How Helen learn the sign language

Helen Keller didn't know sign language from my understanding. I'm pretty sure she only knew/used the alphabet, a-z. But, she did well with that! She learned the alphabet from Annie Sullivan, a young partially-blind woman whom the Keller family brought to their home in hopes of taming the hellion that Helen had turned into. With repetition and patience, Helen finally understood that WATER meant the wet stuff flowing over her hands, and from there she became insatiable to know what everything else was called.
