We all know that Thomas Elva Edison was a very busy man. when he picked up calls , he didn't have so much time to say "who is this?" and other statements. Thus , one day by mistake he said "Hello" when he picked up a call.Since then , "Hello" is being used by everyone.

Explanation:
The Oxford English Dictionary says the first published use of "hello" goes back only to 1827. ... The dictionary says it was Thomas Edison who put hello into common usage. He urged the people who used his phone to say "hello" when answering. His rival, Alexander Graham Bell, thought the better word was "ahoy."
