The herbicides kill weeds as they grow through the herbicide treated zone. Herbicides do not prevent weeds from germinating but they kill weeds as they grow through the herbicide treated zone by affecting the cell division in the emerging seedling. Dithiopyr and pendimethalin are preemergence herbicides.
