Himalayas or such huge mountains are formed due to folding or wrinkling on the Earth's surface. It might be due to major earthquakes or continental drifts. As depicted, Himalayas were caused due to India being separated and the surface folding up to form wrinkles in the surface. This formed the Himalayas.
