How how is a federalism government different from unitary government form of Government why are federalism prepared these days

In unitary form of government , only one government will be held for a country.
Why we are using federalism these days :
1.if the government is divided , it will be easy to administer and deal the problems of all states.
2. people can approach to the government which is near to them.
