Under Universal Adult Franchise, every citizen of India of 18 years of age and above, can cast his or her vote but he or she must have his name mentioned on the Voter's List.
in some cases, the right to vote is denied if that person is a criminal (in very severe cases) or if a person has an unsound mind. Also, if his name is not on the Voter's list, he cant cast a vote.
