Well, basically there are two types of reproduction, Sexual and Asexual.

→In case of Human beings, it is a Sexual reproduction.
→By the process of "Internal Fertilization", the process of fertilization occurs.
→Once the sperm meets the egg, it penetrates through the outer layer of the egg to cause fertilization.
→Formation of Diploid Zygote occurs by this process.

→A set of 23 Chromosomes is provided by each parent. And therefore a Zygote have 46 chromosomes in total. 
The normal gestation period for humans is 38 weeks which is a little over 9 months.
