(i) In case of dilution of acidic solution, number of hydronium ions in the solution decreases. This is because the already available hydronium ions bind with hydroxyl ions of water, thus, decreasing the concentration. The pH will increase.
(ii) In the case of addition of basic solution with more base, the concentration of hydroxyl ions will increase. This is because base will provide more hydroxyl ions to the solution. The pH will further increase.
