You mentioned that you were charged. Was it later dismissed, were you found not-guilty after trial, or were you later convicted? If it was dismissed, it would still show up on your record as being charged and dismissed. Whether or not you can get that removed from your record depends on the reason why it was dismissed, whether you have any prior convictions, and whether you've been arrested or charged with another crime since the DV charged was dismissed.

If you were actually convicted of the offense, it is a little more complicated and depends on whether it was a felony or misdemeanor charge. You can find more information about that here:
