Diwali is a religious festival of Hindus, initially; this function began with Dhanteras, following by chhoti Diwali and then the proper Diwali. Our schools announce four days holiday for this function but this time we got a week of vacation as 13th October was a second Saturday.
I enjoyed a lot in the vacations, as on the day Dhantera me and my mother bought a silver coin, sweets, decorative material and portraits of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi for Diwali celebration. On the occasion of Chhoti Diwali, I light candles, decorated, home with fairy lights and other stuff.
On the day of Diwali, I wake up early in the morning in the excitement and went market with my father to buy the stuff used in the worship of Diwali. The markets, streets and shops were decorated with lights. In the evening, we came back home and worshiped the Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi. We light candles and diyas made out of soil. I eat sweet and many more dishes prepared by my mother.
After Diwali pujan, we visit our relatives to celebrate function. I and my father distributed sweets and candles to the poor children. I was happy to see them happy, we burn a few firecrackers. Now after a week-long vacation I am here in the school.
