The 1857 Revolt had spread across India to the state of Rajasthan. In fact Rajasthan was one the states which had taken part in the 1857 revolt. Unfortunately, the Rajasthan rulers instead of supporting the nation forces at the time of revolt, had supported the British forces which enabled the British to crush the revolt

  • The rebellion forces of the 1857 revolt in Kota that was led by Jadaya Kayashion & Mehrab Khan was crushed by the British and two rebellions were later hanged. There were several reasons for teh failure of the revolt in Rajasthan such as the indigenious rulers of Rajasthan state did not support the revolt , rather they had supported the British forces; the rebels were not skilled  like the British in the battlefield; besides, there were no proper leaders and they lacked unity amongst themselves
  • Those Rajputana nations were pushed by the British imperial forces to provide for  accessible resources for the promotion of 'trade and commerce by the British Imperial force. The goal was to establish their transport modes in all Rajputana states. The trade volume increased significantly after the construction of the railways in these Rajputana states. The home woven cloths were substituted by factory produced textiles after establishing the quick transportation say. The Railways played remarkable role especially during famine period to save thousands of life in Rajputana States.
  • Also, dyeing & Calico printing through symbol or imprint on cloths, in  Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota states another type of industries were known i.e., dyeing & shading on silk & cotton was once very common. Local industries that were earlier in Rajasthan had slowly started disappearing and replaced by factories started by the British. These were for example,  industry in Jaipur,  which were famous for dyed and stamped cotton cloths, gold decorated elements, fur carpets or mat, and varnish works.
