India is called a secular state because there is no discrimination of religions by the government or the Constitution. According to it, the government cannot give special rights to any religion. Also, any religion cannot be deprived of certain rights. ... These are some reasons why India is called a Secular State.

India is a secular state because:

a)It does not give the status of official religion to any religion.

b)In India,people can follow,practice and propagate any religion of their wish.

c)People can even be an atheist i.e, a person who does not

follow any religion.

d)The Government cannot give any religion special rights that other religions do not have.

e)Discrimination on the basis of religion is also banned by law in India.
