Secularism in India means equal treatment of all religions by the state. With the 42nd Amendment of the Constitution of India enacted in 1976, the Preamble to the Constitution asserted that India is a secular nation. However, neither India's constitution nor its laws define the relationship between religion and state.

answer according to the class 10th.

1 there is neither official religion nor any special status given to the the cast for the Indian state and like the status of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.

2 the constitution provides to all individual and communities freedom to process practice and propagate any religion or even not follow any kind of religion.

3 the constitution prohibits discrimination on grounds of religion.

4 at the same time the constitution allowed the state to interve in the matter of religion in order to ensure equality with religious community
