The Caste System in India is almost viewed as a curse on the country and over the centuries progressive leaders have been relentlessly fighting against it but in vain. The system reserves jobs and callings based on one’s birth in a caste.High castes can take high-paying avocations while low-castes were given menial jobs. The system effectively curtailed movement of low-caste individuals into money making activities, reserved for higher castes. For example, a low-caste dalit cannot even run a provision shop in a village, even if he has all that is required to run it.Upper caste Hindus will not patronize the shop and make it a sure failure
